Prices for fabrics and goods at local shop

Notable event marks opening of K G and G railroad shops

The K G and G railroad shops in Shreveport were formally opened with city and railroad officials, dignitaries, and Shreveport representatives in attendance. A procession from Union Depot moved into the brick shop building, described as 100? feet long with new heavy machinery. The car repair shop, separate for fire safety, sits nearby, part of a large investment including the round house and offices. Mayor McKellar and Hon. E. H. Randolph spoke, praising the project as an epoch in the city’s history. Sen. Blanchard offered remarks on behalf of the railroad. The event ended with cheers for Capt. Wise Suggestion for Louisiana Settlers from Illinois Man

An Illinois observer noted Shreveport area as having ideal climate and soil and urged bringing at least two thousand small farmers from the North to cultivate fruit farms track farms vine yards and stock farms from forty to two hundred acres. He warned land could be bought cheaply and Germans and others would migrate if informed, promising good citizenship and help building early roads into Shreveport. The local man was impressed by the counsel and reported it.

Hypnotized Youth Draws Curious Crowds at Bigart & Company

For 48 hours a crowd gathered at Bigart & Company window to watch a youth in a hypnotic sleep. He was put under trance Monday night and remained until Wednesday night. Spectators debated if the act was cruelty or entertainment while noting he earns $10 a month plus expenses as a troupe member and rests between sleeps.
