Primary for Railroad Commissioner set by Caddo Dems

The Democratic Executive Committee of Caddo parish met in Shreveport to fix the primary election for Railroad Commissioner. The August 14 1898 vote selects the party nominee who will appoint delegates to the Monroe convention and a second primary on September 6 follows if no candidate wins outright. The rules cover voter eligibility, candidate-named inspectors, oath, and expense sharing. a list of voters will be kept and canvassing will occur after returns. Separate Farmers Institute notice at Jewella for August 15 discusses topics from veterinary hygiene to land terracing.
