Port Gibson orders water trough move and legal action
The court orders that the sheriff notify overseers by printed mail of the order. It directs buying a water trough for the street to the Martin road near Thomas Turner’s store with Port Gibson to furnish water. It also orders moving the trough from the Confederate Monument to Main Street near Jordan corner. J E Ross may file the ed ubable children roll by the September meeting.

Port Gibson Female College Gains Public Confidence
The Port Gibson Female College has grown in public confidence over three years. It maintains strict but kind discipline with emphasis on health and morals. The school raised study standards by not having a senior class last session and requiring juniors to stay juniors for two years. Each session features an educational tour funded by the college. Last year’s tour went to New Orleans. this year President Hawkins will lead a Jackson tour during the Mississippi State Fair, plus a visit to the Vicksburg National Military Park.
