Union leaders fail to admit defeat as about 200000 workers are said to be out in sympathy with the carmen strike. Building trades units totaling around 100000 postponed action, with several unions delaying until Monday due to partial understanding of the proposal.
Sir William Henry Dunn, after twenty five years as an alderman and one term as sheriff, was chosen lord mayor of London in a Guildhall ceremony. He will replace Sir Charles Wakefield on November 9 and is noted for wealth philanthropy war relief work and honorary military roles. He had been elected to parliament in 1910.
Battle Creek Mich Sept 29 Colonel Roosevelt will begin his western trip for the Republican ticket noting a potential red letter day if expectations hold. Fifty thousand visitors are billed to attend with an elaborate program including a parade and a large free barbeque featuring health food.
