Scout of Old School Takes His Last Trail
Barnett Barney McGarvey one of the last famed Indian wars scouts died at 621 South Main Street at 7 pm Thursday after a long illness. Born in Scotland he crossed the plains as a child with his widowed mother and later lived in Wyoming with Shoshone allies. He joined General Crook in 1876 and was among Crook’s first scouts at the Custer battlefield.

Victims fall as holdup ends in gunfire in Los Angeles
