An excursion train will carry hundreds of Gate Cityites to Blackfoot tomorrow morning for Poca Yello Day at the fair. Round trip by Short Line is one dollar, with departure at 9 am and return around 7 pm. Blackfoot fair boasts best races exhibits and features, with Eagle band providing music.
Preston notes Oneida county backs Burton L French for Congress while governor race stays quiet. Preston plans to become a city with a full charter as the town expands. Night marshal Dave Davis is urged for day marshal. The Cache Valley News is renamed Preston News. Cutler hospital opens on the top floor of the Co op Drug building, central in town with modern facilities and ambulance links.
Report from Shanghai dated Sept 18 says the Japanese steamer Taioo Maru was damaged three miles off Chink Kang on the Yangtze right bank. Many crew and passengers are missing and authorities fear about 100 lives lost though full extent of damage remains unconfirmed.
A 50 000 barrel oil tank at the Oakland Gas & Cove say plant was destroyed by a blaze that started from a live wire. Officials cannot yet estimate the financial loss.
Warrants were issued today for the arrest of Sumner G. Moon and James L. Barber of Eau Claire Wisconsin millionaire officers of the Barber Lumber Co and Horace Rand of Burlington Connecticut who have been indicted with Senator W K Borah and others for conspiracy to defraud the United States government. They will be brought to Boise at once to answer the charges.
Green and Higson, a major Pocatello plumbing firm, are paid in full for installing a modern heating plant at the Idaho state asylum for the insane in Blackfoot. The system includes a large boiler, underground steam pipes with asbestos wrapping, gravity water return, automatic valves, and a septic tank with a yeast-like process that destroys waste with odorless purity. The unit provides hot and cold water, spray baths, and a large storage tank fed by high pressure water for emergencies.
A letter from General Passenger Agent Burley announces daylight train service for Idaho Falls shooters near Market Lake starting September 14 until season end. Train No 9 from here in the morning and No 10 arriving at noon will be halted to accommodate sportsmen. Market Lake and vicinity report excellent shooting conditions this year.
In New York on September 18 the government suit to dissolve Standard Oil of New Jersey resumes before examiner Judge Fer. Frank Kellogg, counsel for the government, argues for production of books said to contain minutes of liquidation trustees meetings. The government contends shares were exchanged for stock in nineteen related companies after dissolution.
The Pocatello Pressed Brick and Manufacturing Co plans a plant turning out 20,000 bricks daily by year’s start. Finest pressed brick from clay in the west shown at Tribune office and Bannock Abstract. C C Wilson of Texas Fire Brick lauds the product and may take stock in Denver.
Rexburg Sept 17 Unanimous attendees hailed Fremont stake quarterly conference as one of the best with notable unity among local church authorities. Apostle Orson F Whitney spoke on doctrine and world learning while stake leaders reported the stake is debt free and aims to clear ward debts by year end. The gathering reflected renewed happiness and stability despite harvest season.
Mrs. L B De Foil of Portland representing Sunset magazine in Pocatello argues South Idaho is a key cog in the Northwest’s progress. She plans to promote Pacific Northwest resources to attract home seekers and relieve eastern labor shortages, citing vast room for new workers in south Idaho and praising Twin Falls builders. She stays in Pocatello for several days and will present her plan to the local chamber's board.
Ed W Mooney of the Pocatello aerie returns from the Grand Aerie in Norfolk Virginia where a 50000 strong parade impressed attendees. Northwestern delegates win to bring the next Grand Aerie to Seattle with officers elected including Thomas A Bell Conrad H Mann and others. Governor Swanson and Norfolk mayor welcomed the delegates.
Harrisburg aldermen issued warrants for fourteen defendants in the state capital scandal based on Attorney General Dodd information. Charges include conspiracy to cheat the state with false invoices. four defendants face counts of obtaining money under false pretenses. Named are Congressman H Burd Cassel, Penn Construction treasurer W P Snyder, former auditor general, and former state treasurer W J Mathues.
A strong county fair push has drawn prominent backers led by Mayor Webster to fund a Rexburg track rivaling Idaho’s best. F B Margetts and family visit Rexburg, while Mrs Clara W Beebe arrives from Salt Lake City for stake conference.
The Yellowstone Limited on Short Line No. 15 will be pulled from service next Sunday. The final run departs Salt Lake Saturday night and returns from the End of Track Sunday. The service has carried thousands to the park this year and anticipates growth next season with new boundary creek hotel plans.

She argues Idaho offers superior agricultural and domestic programs, no tuition, stronger prestige, and better statewide development, inviting families to travel Idaho for education and pride.

George C. Taylor son of Moses Taylor died at his Great River Louisiana home at 72. He lived in retirement and never engaged in business yet was believed to have saved a fortune rivaling his father’s twenty million dollars. He enjoyed an annual income while not touching the principal.
