Oregon Executes Murderer Bailey in State Gas Chamber
Kenneth William Bailey, 27, was executed in Oregon today for the slaying of State Police Sgt. T. R. Chambers. Bailey entered the death chamber without a statement, gas pellets dropped at 8 34 a.m., pronounced dead at 8 37. A Catholic priest stayed with him. last meal was ordinary. Bailey’s stepmother from Klamath Falls visited. Chambers was killed April 29, 1945, during a gun battle near Weiser Idaho while pursuing Bailey and two fugitives. Duffy died in the same fight.
