Tokio reports the Japanese flagship Mikasa destroyed by a midnight fire and magazine explosion. Five hundred ninety nine lives lost as the ship sank after the blast blew a hole below the water line. cause under investigation.
Outlaw Pat Crowe, long sought by Omaha police as the kidnapper of Edward Cudahy’s son, was in Lincoln on Sept 2. He met for an hour with Edward Metcalfe, associate editor of William J. Bryan's Commoner, and then disappeared before police arrived at the office.
London reports another delay in issuing the full text of the Anglo Japanese treaty. Officials said publication would occur this evening or by Sept 12 at the latest, but the AP was told that several more days may pass before the document is released. No cause was given, though it is believed Japan may have requested the postponement.
Postmaster F. Ball lists unclaimed mail for the week ending September 11 in Pocatello Idaho. Letters will be sent to the Dead Letter office if not collected within two weeks, including names such as Amer Leon Leavell O W Baker James McMahon Gay Bell Mrs F W Mitchell and others.

A large blaze in Logan Utah today wiped out the mechanical shops at the Agricultural College of Utah. The fire caused an estimated loss of fifty thousand dollars.
Stockholm reports delegates from Norway and Sweden will meet in Karlstad to discuss dissolving the union. Swedish conditions are deemed unalterable, and Norwegian acceptance will decide the outcome. Norwegian press tone is threatening and Swedish authorities prepare for a breach if delegates reassemble.

Two freight trains on the Illinois Central Chicago branch collided at Thawville. A stockman riding in the caboose, named Green of Bluemound, was killed. Charles Plano of Farmer City and Roths child were fatally injured. eight others were bruised but survived. All injured are from Illinois.
A telegram from Reine Switzerland dated September 11 reports Lieutenant Rauche crushed by an avalanche during a Swiss Himalaya ascent. The expedition is returning amid mounting casualties and harsh conditions.
Twenty black students were refused admission to white schools in Kansas City Kansas with plans to pursue the case in court. The Kansas legislature had earlier separated races in the Kansas City High School and promised a separate negro school, not yet built. Until then white classes run in the morning and black students attend in the afternoon. At Bonner Springs similar orders split races in one building, with no clashes observed.
Gate City Shoe Shining Parlors announce special arrangements for ladies shoes during the season. On dance nights they will stay open until all dancers have had their shoes shined. Location is South Cleveland avenue.
Rome dispatch says a Tientsin rumor claims Baron Komura family was assassinated while the Japanese envoy Komura remains ill. The report is not credited by Balance of En voys and notes the Russian peace plenipotentiaries sail home after farewell calls.
The Russian peace envoys led by Witte left New York on the Kultser Wilhelm for the return voyage to St Petersburg. Before departure Witte and Rosen paid a farewell call to the Japanese envoys. Baron Komura remains bedridden at the Waldorf Astoria and could not meet the guests but sent a cordial farewell. A Rome report of Komura's family’s assassination was dismissed by other Japanese members as unreliable.
James Hamilton heir to a $30,000,000 estate vanishes in Seattle as friends fear murder or abduction. He is the son of Sir James Hamilton and has ties to British aristocracy including the Duke of Abercorn. His mother contested recognition, and the family has lived in Alaska recently while Hamilton, penniless, returned from Alaska.
Boston reports 500 Armenians in Harpoot and 200 in Malatia, Turkey jailed for deportation to the United States. The prisoners are said to be returned emigrants, some having left the U S as far back as 1898. Most will likely be deported upon arrival, as few have solid residence claims.

Mrs. Morrell, daughter of EBC Converse of New York and an officer of the Steel trust, was shot in her Greenwich home after a burglar entered early today. The assailant fled. a man later arrested near the rit road station claimed to have been at the house but denied knowledge of the shooting.
