Runaway Trailer Collides With Oncoming Auto
A two-wheeled trailer broke loose from a southbound auto on Yellowstone highway near North Pocatello Friday evening and struck an oncoming car driven by Mrs Gene Dayley of 310 Randolph avenue. The lumber laden trailer swerved toward the center line and back into Dayleys path. both vehicles sustained slight damage and there were no injuries. The trailer originated from Clyde Crown of 85 Portneuf Park, who was driving the auto at the time, police reported.

Death Claims Court Justice Rutledge at 55
Supreme Court Justice Wiley Blount Rutledge, 55, died Saturday night at York Village hospital after a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been in critical condition since Aug 27 and was stricken while driving from Ogunquit where his family vacationed.

Police Nab Car Prowler With Loot
Pocatello police nabbed William Glenn Ford 49 in the act Saturday night in the 200 block South Railroad Avenue. Officers Williams and Wrenn caught him as he ran from a parked car into Mamson Park. Loot found on Ford included a brown car robe driving gloves three flash lights a screwdriver pliers a bottle of Mennen’s lotion and an alarm clock set for seven. Ford admitted the thefts.

Nine Die As Storm Sinks Pleasure Cruiser Constance
Coast Guards rescued three others after the 38 foot cabin cruiser Constance was smashed in a raging storm off Nantucket Island. Nine people including five women died, with victims identified as Rev. Hubert Allenby and family members among others. Survivors include skipper Russell Palmer and Alfred Allenby.

City Ends Sunday Bus Service In Pocatello
Pocatello will have no bus service on Sundays or holidays now or in the future. Beverly Bistline, manager of Pocatello Motor Transit, says service is a return to pre war operations due to the return of the automobile and pool closure. Extra service may be provided on special holidays if large movements occur. Public announcements will state any special service.

Police Spur Hunt For Local Rapist
Pocatello police pressed their hunt Saturday for a rapist who attempted to assault a 16 year old girl in her South Main Street home about 9 o clock Friday night. The girl was unharmed but frightened and could not identify the culprit from several suspects rounded up that night. She was alone in the family apartment as her parents were away. She had gone to bed when the incident occurred.

Bartender in assault case over waitress hit by gunfire
James Stromme, 44, jailed on $1000 bail after a confrontation with waitress Jane Bradley and store manager R. E. Marshall at Fred's Cafe and a Newberry's store in Pocatello.
