Britain pledges to stop materials from the United States under the lease lend act from aiding direct competition with American industry in foreign markets. London officials voiced concern over the propaganda value to Germany and promised to prevent misuse and restrict British exports. Continued on Page Three.
President Roosevelt plans to demand a strict accounting from Germany for American lives and ships lost at sea since 1939. Five U S owned ships have sunk and at least 65 Americans dead, with debate over actions to enforce rights on the high seas and possible repeal of the neutrality act.
The U S State Department loosened travel limits for Americans in Britain allowing return on belligerent ships through Canada or direct to the United States. Earlier routes included flights to Lisbon with passage home on non belligerent ships or by clipper plane.
Farm and labor groups in Salt Lake County anticipate a harvest labor shortfall of 300 to 700 workers. They scheduled a meeting tonight to discuss securing sufficient help for the harvest season.
Boise report states Director Lewis Williams of the charitable institutions department will inspect the State Hospital South at Blackfoot tomorrow and will be away for the rest of the week.

Danforth was in town for the Purina mill opening.
President Roosevelt orders a five member board to investigate the rail dispute as rail lines face potential shutdowns. In Idaho, the Ralston Purina Pocatello mill opens with a morning program led by Mayor Trerrell and Governor Clark and a noon luncheon.

Three damage suits against the Union Pacific system were moved to the fifth district court from Twin Falls after a venue change. Tillie Condell and Edward Ramsdale sue over a 1939 highway crossing collision near Cedar crossing between Buhl and Filer involving diesel train operator Mickle and Miller. Damages sought include 60000 general for Condell's husband, medical costs, burial expenses, and Ramsdale's claimed losses.
Idaho Falls seeks to enforce a zoning ordinance against J L Grimmett a planing mill operator for operating a mill in a residential district The state supreme court heard the case for the second time with city attorney Ralph Albaugh arguing for neighborly respect and Grimmett attorney Alvin Denman contending the city supplying power complicates enforcement The court took the matter under advisement.

AP dispatch from Washington reports the Office of Production Management likely to recommend expanding the Provo pig iron plant at a cost over 20 million dollars within three weeks. A steel rolling mill proposal for Provo was also seen as favorable, with an estimated 37 million dollars. Rep. Robinson of Utah was informed of these developments.
