Pocatello's school population rises about 3 percent with an estimated total enrollment of 4480 for the first day, up 116 from last year. The senior high adds 76 students. Irving and Franklin show slight losses, while five of seven grade schools gain. Late enrollments of 30 or more anticipated as schools clear registrations.
In Geneva on September 8 AP reports Mexico received unanimous invitation to join the League. Lord Cecil of Britain and Foreign Ministers Briand of France Grandi of Italy urged adherence as a correction of an error from the league’s formation. Cecil admitted his part in the omission and Briand praised the rectification.
Baseball today featured multiple seven to seventeen run games. Phillies split with the Mets in doubleheader action while Cincinnati and Cleveland tallied losses and strong showings on the road. Detroit routed St Louis 286, and Washington topped Philadelphia in a high scoring affair.

John Markham alias J Morgan, 22, of Granite City Illinois, confessed to killing two men in separate states. Cecil Pruitt and Stanley Moore were slain in Kansas City Kansas and near Holyoke Colorado. Moore, a hitchhiker from Chicago, was killed for allegedly knowing too much. Police intensified search after a bloodstained car was found in Denver.
Bernardsville New Jersey September 8 Chief of Police Charles Caveneugh age 28 was shot and killed outside his home by an unidentified assailant as he rushed from his house to help fight a fire nearby He was with others when the fatal shot struck.
