A purse containing 108.50 dollars was left at the church door during services by members of the Ku Klux Klan. Rev J limp, the minister, granted admission to the wearer and a formal presentation followed the act at the corner church.
Joseph Clarence Ward, longtime telegrapher in Visalia, served 59 years in the General Telegraph office and helped Edison with Morse code. He retired in 1922, was active in Knights Templar and Masonic bodies, and was survived by his widow and daughter in San Francisco.

Léo J. Tyma, 24, who hid behind a rock after sawing a vent and smearing oil on his body, slipped through the bars of Nevada’s penitentiary. He bribed guards, boarded a freight train, and traveled eight miles before capture. Tyma has served terms in New York reformatories and on Alcatraz.
An automnenite conveyance carrying $10,000 in bearer bonds was robbed this afternoon in a suburban Omaha district. The vehicle, driven by a utility employee, was seized by four men: two in front and two in back, one armed with a revolver and one with a shotgun. They forced the car to stop, seized the bag, and fled in the getaway vehicle despite police presence.
