Washington AP reports that despite serious labor disruptions in coal and railroads, the Commerce Department notes ongoing progress toward normal conditions. The survey highlights sustained gains in commerce and sales and cautions losses from strikes may extend over coming months.
Mrs. Harding wife of President Harding has been indisposed for days with a slight organic trouble linked to a cold and hydrorephrosis. White House officials say the illness is not alarming though serious complications arose last night but abated this morning. Dr. Carl W Sawyer and staff attend, with naval and army medical personnel assisting at the White House and aboard the Mayflower.
Salem Oregon September 8 AP Gerras Howard of Yale Oregon was hanged at the state penitentiary for the killing of George Sweeney a tailor in Vale Sent September 14 19 0. During trial he claimed self defense and said he hid the body in a trunk in a river later buried it. He was arrested at Star Idaho.
Hackensack New Jersey September AP reports a warrant for the arrest of Misa Alice New York charging complicity with George ine a movie location scout in the murder on August 25 of Jack Bergen a motion picture actor Prosecutor Hart of Bergen County sought the warrant before the coroner and jury in investigation the evidence charge.
Adolph Kunstler a New York veteran was assaulted by three men in a restaurant on Upper Sheridan Road and robbed of jewelry valued at 60 000. The bandits fled in an automobile and Kunstler was taken to a hospital severely beaten.
A report notes heat from TAP in the air causing a fire incident today. No injuries listed, authorities investigating the source and location of the blaze.
Ira Pavey was executed at noon for the murder of Claude Lerner. His mother and sisters flew in from Kansas City for a final talk. The condemned man slept soundly, wrote letters, and joked about the meals before the hanging.
