Watertown South Carolina September 8 the greater part of Lebeau was destroyed by a fire causing an estimated loss of 150000 dollars. The blaze left many residents homeless and structures reduced to ashes. Local fire departments battled the flames but could not save several blocks. No injuries reported at this time.

The prior state charge was dismissed and Kay confessed after interrogation by Sheriff Ellis.
