More than 100 Chinese civilians were killed or wounded as Japanese warplanes bombed the west station of the Shanghai Hangchow railway. The attack hit refugees in doorways and streets, injuring and killing a large crowd near British patrols in the international settlement.
In San Francisco the crew of the Dollar Miner President Wilson demanded a 250 bonus for passing through the Sino Japanese war zone causing a delay before the ship sailed at 6 40 p m. The 203 crew members signed ship's articles and 120 passengers were aboard for a route to Yokohama Manila. Separately 34 Chinese crew of the Japanese freighter China Explorer left Port Angeles amid migration authorities reports over serving enemies.
Steven J. Wittman of Oshkosh wins a Grove qualifying race and the 100 mile 397 race at an average 245 mph in Cleveland. Roger Don Rae and Otto Hagenburg crash during events. Hagenburg survives after a dramatic inverted maneuver.

Judge Oliver P. Duvall of Twin Falls Idaho was chosen Governor of the Utah Idaho Kiwanis district at the convention in Salt Lake City. Four division lieutenant governors were elected Heber Jones Eureka Roscoe E Bailey Park City Owen Smith Buhl Idaho and J C Palumbo Payette Idaho. Awards by Kiwanis were presented in four divisions Salt Lake Ogden Provo and Payette as the convention closed.

Unions staged Saturday pickets at Walsteen Drug and Inter Mountain Chevrolet alleging unfair labor practices. A Walgreen official said staff were not pressured to join, wages were competitive, and many workers plan schooling or marriage. Chevrolet cited dismissals for union activity vs incompetence amid ongoing remodeling on West Center Street. Celia Olsen was unavailable for comment.
