Berlin reports President Hindenburg signed emergency decrees implementing Franz von Papen’s plan for economic recovery. The measures authorize more than 2.0 billion marks for public works, rural settlements, and housing with private industry revived to employ jobless Germans.
Havana reports a hurricane level tropical storm likely to skim Nassau and move through the Florida straits. Miami braces as winds rise. NBC advices place the storm east of Nassau moving west-northwest toward southeast Florida Tuesday. Mae Maizlip sets speed record at national air races. Four farmers injured as picketers attack a caravan in Sioux City. A San Francisco jury deliberates on the case of ex defender Egan and ex convict Tinnin. Philippine legislature grants women property rights without husband consent.
Severe flooding from the Rio Grande swells from Laredo into the lower valley damaging highways rails and farms. Rescues followed a collapsed international bridge as residents fear crest near Rio Grande City around noon.

Grand larceny charges will be filed Tuesday against Russell Baker 16 and Woodrow Biscarra 15 of this city who were arrested at a local dance hall Saturday night by Deputy Sheriffs L B Tolley and W B Strausbaugh. The boys are alleged to have stolen a tow truck from a local bakery and were riding their girlfriends around town before stopping at the dance. Baker claimed bakery employment but the manager said this was not true.

He mentions moving a large stock of worms and two yearling worms and a grasshopper ranch joining next to his operation. He notes locals say fish are not biting this year and comments on Hoover’s falling support.
Republican governor candidate Byron Defenbach will open Idaho campaign in Meridian with Ada county central committee support. The 60 day drive begins as major county and state ticket nominees are expected on the speaker lineup and Defenbach advances a statewide itinerary.
A crew of eight forced entry into Koch and Company on South Halsted, held 10 people for 14 hours, bored through armor plates and burned into the vault. They opened about 350 safety deposit boxes and vanished around 4 am after time locks released, with losses estimated between 100000 and 1000000. Local police initially pegged the value up to a million though firm officials questioned that figure.
Residents of Cache valley dedicate a monument northwest of Preston to commemorate the last major Indian engagement in southern Idaho on January 29, 1863. Dr. Howard R. Driggs of the Oregon Trails association speaks. Cache valley Boy Scouts take part and stay for a court of honor. Monument unveiled by Chief Sagwich's grandson.

Garret Schenck a 46 year old fish monger from Hopewell New Jersey was kidnapped and held for 76 days by a private detective amid a Lindbergh baby case mystery. He was found in a mountain cabin and brought to Johnstown Pennsylvania where he is in sheriff custody awaiting further questioning.
Babe Ruth hit his 40th homer in the fourth inning at center field during the Yankees Athletics doubleheader opener. The ball cleared a fence 429 feet from home plate in the bleachers, as New York leads early action and weather forecasts show fair tonight and Tuesday with warmer west areas.

Hollywood stunt aviator Al Wilson died in Berea Community Hospital from a fractured skull suffered after a collision between his 1910 Pusher and an Autogyro flown by John Miller during a national air races demonstration in Cleveland. Both aircraft fell from about 100 feet. Miller was uninjured. Spectators witnessed the crash near the grand stand.
The American Federation of Labor plans a federal unemployment insurance bill for Congress in December. Frank Morrison announced on Labor Day at Ross Park that the bill protects workers from non union conditions and supports a move to a five day week. The AFL aims to safeguard collective bargaining and back age pension plans as mechanization increases unemployment.
The Idaho Methodist Episcopal Church completed its five day conference in Nampa with district appointments for the coming year. Bishop Titus Lowe presided. Rev. W. B. Young becomes eastern district superintendent, succeeding Rev. H. G. Humphrey, who moves to Jason Lee Memorial Church in Salem, Oregon. H. G. McCallister remains western district superintendent. Pocatello receives Joseph Chester, while other special appointments include Dr. C. W. Tenney to Gooding quarterly conference and H. W. Parker to Twin Falls quarterly conference.
Boise police report Eva Rifer, 45, remains in serious condition with a bullet wound to the left shoulder that apparently punctured a lung. Her husband W G Rifer admitted the shooting after being jailed following a family quarrel at their home.
Arthur E. Volkmeier, former state traffic officer, survived an ambush outside his sister’s Alameda home. He faces serious abdominal wounds with a bullet in his body and a bladder and intestines injury. Police pursue leads as Volkmeier names George Cacavas Steve Cacavas and John Bettas as suspects, while an alibi is provided for George Cacavas.
