Senator William E. Borah addressed the open air platform at Bannock county fairgrounds during the Labor day program which opened the Bannock county fair. The event drew the largest crowd ever at the fairgrounds and followed a Labor day parade. A 30 second silence honored late Congressman Thomas C. Coffin before the program began with the Star Spangled Banner and an invocation by Rev I Q.
Idaho Falls Idaho September 4 AP Senator William E Borah refused to comment on a Saturday Post article by former President Hoover. He spoke in Pocatello at a Labor Day festival and planned speeches in Ashton Arco Salmon City and other sites while visiting a pheasant farm and viewing the Snake River falls.
Russ Columbo, 26, famous singing idol, was killed when a pistol discharged while filmmaker Lansing V. Brown Jr. handled it. Brown, his friend and witness, explained the accidental discharge as officers prepared for an inquest. Columbo's mother, bedridden in Santa Monica, remained unaware of the tragedy.
The federal housing administration announced acceptance of an insurance contract under the non credit plan. The Idaho institution listed is Bolsae-Pirstaie.

A serious track accident at Bannock County Fair injured two jockeys during the opening day events. Gentry Knight, 19, of Georgia, suffered a skull fracture and was in critical condition at St. Anthony hospital after being thrown from his horse. Vern Hazel, 28, of Lava Hot Springs, escaped with minor injuries after his mount collided in the dust. The crowd neared 4000 as the fair began with a Labor Day address by Senator Borah.
