A collision on U S 91 near Downey October 29 1948 between a loosened horse and an automobile led to a damage suit for 35321 filed in fifth district court by Louis and Florence Halverson and Verl Halverson a minor. The complaint names Bert Almond as defendant and alleges the party were driving north at about 730 p m when a sorrel gelding wandering on the highway caused the crash.

New World's First Inhabitants Unearthed Near Cody Wyoming
Extensive remains of a primitive hunter group the Yuma dating from 5 000 to 12 000 years before Christ were found on a Sage Creek terrace near Cody Wyoming. Dr Loren Eiseley of the University of Pennsylvania called the site among the most important for understanding early American cultures. The cache includes 600 square feet of tools weapons and food remains buried under desert sands. No human bones were found but numerous Yuma points and lances were present. The find may allow dating the Yuma before extinctions of late ice age bison and confirms distinctness from Folsom culture as potential ancestors of later American Indians.
