Salt Lake City reports a reserve army pilot missing after a plane with Henry Pearson aboard crashed into the Great Salt Lake. Lt. Lucian Powell swam ashore eight hours after the crash saying Pearson stayed aboard. Units across land, air, and water search the lake for Pearson with planes, boats, and 20 soldiers patrolling the shore.
Colorado Springs will dedicate the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun on Cheyenne Mountain. Spencer Penrose funds and builds the pink granite 100 foot spire in memory of Rogers with a dedicatory procession and chimes. Oklahoma kinfolk will unveil Rogers bust by Jo Davidson as a flare lights atop the tower.
