Earl Quinn died by electric chair in McAlester at 12 08 am for the December 1930 murder of Jessie and Zexia Griffith teachers. Tom Morris, condemned for an unrelated burglary slaying of Mr and Mrs House, followed with a 40 second electric shock.
Frieda Weltz, 43, a former World War nurse and Grace slayer, is acquitted of murder in Santa Clara after a 10 hour jury deliberation. Prosecutors had charged her with killing Francis J. M. Grace, 58, a nephew of W R Grace.

Evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson Hutton says she will agree to divorce from her estranged husband David Hutton Jr if he waives any claims to community property. Papers signed before a Fort Worth notary authorize her Los Angeles attorney E A Adams to appear in the Los Angeles suit. Huttons lawyers say a property settlement was proposed.

Godall and Boyd Grover, with the ship burning after impact. In Texas at San Antonio flying cadets A. J. Evans and Allen Lee Perry collide mid air. Evans dies, Perry injured, Perry parachutes to safety.
William Fox testified before senate investigators that 15 million dollars vanished from Fox Theaters after he sold control. Albert H. Wiggin denied telling Hoover to mind his own business, as Frederick W. Gehle backed Wiggin’s denial. Fox said no effort was made to account for the money, and about 1300 to 1400 shareholders paid 25 to 30 dollars per share.
A northeast shifting wind pushed a three day foothill brush fire toward La Canada and Alta California estates. Six hundred firefighters and twelve engine companies rushed to the area as smoke and ashes drifted over luxury homes. Authorities hoped to keep the blaze from Arroyo Seco, Pasadena water source, with flames along the Angeles Crest Highway. Since Tuesday night the fire has scorched about 4500 acres, causing damage near four million dollars.
Police in Ely report 19 year old Harry Tilly Edwards of Wendover Utah attempted suicide by inhaling auto exhaust in sub zero weather with wrists slashed. He said he also tried sleeping pills but woke up.
