Cherry November 24 168 miners bodies recovered from the lower vein of the St Paul mine after black damp blocked escape routes. Rescue crews found improvised fans from tool boxes and slate messages. Twenty one miners still missing as debris and collapse trapped the stairwell.
Miss Yulee Noble daughter of Mrs. William Belden Noble and granddaughter of the late Senator David Yule of Florida, married Lieut. Sherman Miles son of Lt General Nelson A. Miles at St. John's Church in Washington. The ceremony drew officials and social leaders with guests from New York and Chicago. Attendants included Miss Elizabeth Parker and Miss Joanna Schroeder. best man Colgate Hoyt. ushers Lieut Phillip Matthews Lieut Harold Huntley and others from New York and Washington.

Alma Bell was found not guilty in Auburn California on November 24 of the murder of her lover Joe Armes, whom she killed after he deserted her for a prettier face. The defense argued Armes made love to her and betrayed her before his death.
