New York reports a careful inspection shows the burned East River bridge structure suffered losses not exceeding 75000 dollars. None of the great cables were harmed and all workers believed to be on site have been accounted for.
Washington November 11 The President names Wm Michael Byrne United States District Attorney for Delaware Byrne resigned last October and sought Congress as a Union Republican but was defeated and now resumes his former post.

In Asheville on November 11 Moody a Republican who lost to Democrat James Gadger filed notice to contest the district election. Moody alleges irregularities in the race and seeks to overturn the result through the proper board and legal channels.
A severe early season blizzard swept through western Nebraska with snow falling at Beaver City Furms county and a thirty to forty degree drop in temperatures reported across the region.

Topeka Kansas November 11 Governor-elect J W Bailey faces pressure to keep his pledge to marry a Kansas woman and install a wife in the statehouse. Fellow Republican D J Hanna also seeks a wife, while the party regards the executive mansion as a social hub and insists on a married occupant.
Cyrus Haling, defeated Republican candidate for congress in Ohio Twelfth district, declines to contest Judge Dewitt O. Badger’s election. Attorney General Shees advised that votes for non judicial offices are void, and Haling cites not accepting a seat he did not win by majority. A potential seating dispute could trigger a special election.
William Cross the Democratic candidate for congress from Oklahoma petitions mandamus to compel Comanche county election officials to count several hundred alleged mutilated ballots. Cross argues ballots marked for him on both Populist and Democratic tickets were cast twice, potentially giving him a majority over B S McGuire.
