Convention of Fifth District PTA Continues
Miss Alice Sowers of Washington D C urged equal chances for every child in a Fifth District Idaho PTA session. Professor Eugene Kile presided at the high school auditorium with the Pocatello council, as the band and Trumpeters Three provided a welcome program. Officers elected were Mrs Abraham Falk president Mrs Joseph Primbs vice president and Mrs Ray Hunter secretary. Miss Sowers outlined four expectations for entering school and stressed parental responsibility to provide sound standards, not to create perfect children. Further details continued on page D.

Flier Duo Aims For Record Nonstop England Africa
Squadron Leader O R Gayford and Flight Lieutenant D L G Bett planned dawn takeoff from Cranwell for a nonstop 5 0395 mile flight to British southwest Africa in the same high performance monoplane used in 1931. If west wind fails they will attempt daily until November 15 or postpone until the next full moon.

Passenger Train Derails Westbound No 23 Near Syracuse
A Santa Fe westbound passenger train 23 derailed a mile east of Syracuse Eas. on November 8 delaying main line service. Engineer Hare sustained a dislocated shoulder as the locomotive left the rails after hitting freight cars on the main line from a siding. The fireman and crew were unharmed and four passenger cars remained on the track. The engineer was hospitalized.

Salt Lake Attorney Dies In Auto Pistol Accident
Daniel J. Alexander a 48 year old Salt Lake City attorney died Saturday evening from a self inflicted gunshot while handling his automatic pistol in his hotel room. A coroner's inquest returned a verdict of accidental death. The body was found by friends.

Attempted Wreck of Hoover Special Train Foiled Near Palisade
Southern Pacific officials report an alleged plan to wreck President Hoover's special train near Palisade by two men carrying dynamite.
