From Boston to Boise, early returns show Republican gains in Massachusetts while Utah and Idaho report fair weather voting. Rome and Boston give mixed results, with Democratic gains noted in several areas as Boise and Salt Lake City indicate turnout varies by region.

Chicago real estate dealer Chas. E. Bohlens was shot and killed in a saloon by four masked robbers who entered as owners Mara Vigilia and Bohlens prepared to close. The assailants rifled the cash register, fled after Bohlens attacked one robber, and were armed with drawn revolvers when they escaped.
New York dispatch reports a cable from Caracas dated November 3 stating the revolt is totally crushed by a final victory. Matos is described as a fugitive, signed by Torres Cardenza, secretary to the president.
Troops of 1200 Feudardists returning from a campaign clashed with civil authorities in Port au Prince. Heavy gunfire raged overnight with seven killed and many wounded as the situation threatened a new civil conflict.
