Boise reports from the southeast that Democrats concede a Republican win in Bing ham county with majorities of 150 or 250. They fear losing legislative control as they fight to save the joint ballot, rallying around Heitfeldt and Hawley while Dubois urges Bear Lake action.
President Roosevelt and party arrived at Manassas at 4:30 am following a wild turkey morning. They lunched at the Henry House and planned an afternoon drive over the Bull Run battlefield. The group then departs by special train at 5:30 pm for Brandy, Virginia to stay with Surgeon General Rixey’s relatives through Monday evening.
The court declared the bonds of Captain Edward Williams forfeited after he failed to appear in a Chicago tax conspiracy case tied to the Masonic Temple affair. Warrants were issued for Williams and associates. W. S. Forrest, Williams’s attorney, withdrew from the case. The motion for a new trial for Lake Wheeler was continued for one week.
Nov 1 reports a cave-in at Heinze Baron mine near Butte Montana. Ten men had narrow escapes as masses of rock continue to fall and the ground weight overwhelms the timbers.
