Washington reports rapid progress toward assembling mediators and officials for peace talks at Niagara Falls. Argentine Minister Manon to depart tomorrow. American delegates to join after Mexican envoys arrive. A dinner tonight hosted by the Spanish ambassador will mark the first meeting among mediators and delegates.
New York May 16 reports all patients aboard the hospital ship Selace, including amputation cases from Vera Cruz, are doing well at the Brooklyn navy yards. Small fortunes of flowers and dainties arrived for the convalescents, forcing authorities to find storage. Wounded convalescents will return to Vera Cruz on the Solace.
Washington reports continued search for Edward Depew Doster, American newspaper man, with Mexican government still pursuing leads. In a separate dispatch Mexican federals evacuated Monclova, and General Mur r in took possession, with reports of substantial American property losses.
The Standard Oil Company of New York announced a fifteen percent reduction in the price of refined petroleum in New York. The move reflects strategic philanthropy efforts and market competition during the period.
State Land Board cancels the Southern Idaho Grazing Association lease for about 5000 acres in southeast Idaho after a report by State Land Commissioner George A. Day. The Bingham County Grazing Association wins the lease with inclusion for Idahoans and Americans among the Southern Idaho members, amid claims of foreign composition and relocation of stock.
The first conference of women farmers met at the Pennsylvania School of Horticulture for Women in Ambler Pennsylvania under the Women’s National Agricultural and Horticultural association. Mrs Francis King of Alma Michigan presided. Experts discussed fruit growing poultry raising and other farm tasks suited for women.
Prince Alexander of Teck accepts invitation to attend the bicentenary celebration of Kew Parish church. The event marks two centuries since consecration and the sermon will be delivered by the Bishop of Kingston, with Teck family associations noted.

May 6 Portland notes slow counting of primary returns with Republican nomination split between James Withycombe of Corvallis and Gus C. Moser of Portland. Democratic candidates include A. S. Bennett and C. J. Smith. Multnomah County shows heavy late voting favoring Esterly over Cannon for national committeeman and Moulton appears set for Congress in the Third District.
William T. Wallace new general manager for the Great Shoshone and Twin Falls Power company and the Southern Idaho Water Power company toured Gate City holdings taken from Kuhn management. He praised Pecatello’s potential and favored Twin Falls as a base with D C MacWatters as irrigation projects superintendent. M E Hughes noted continued liberal policies to foster rapid growth in Pocatello.
New York May 16. Food products valued around $100000 for American soldiers in Mexico will be delivered at the navy yard by New York dealers before Tuesday night. Contracts cover 675000 pounds of peas, 25000 pounds of onions, 4000 pounds of frozen poultry, 20000 pounds of butter, and 90004 dozen eggs.

Senator Walsh of Montana, secretary of the resolutions sub-committee, stated in the senate that Bryan approved the tolls exemption plank as part of the platform. He warned repudiation would shock supporters and cited a proposal to refer the dispute to the Supreme Court.
Mayor Turner appoints H. M. Hartvigsen as night chief after Peter Wrensted resigns. Hartvigsen, longtime officer, is praised for caution and diligence. A. G. Pipkins succeeds as patrolman after formerly being an engineer. Wiensted departs for his ranch to prepare for summer.
Washington reports that fifteen officers must be removed from active service this year to meet a law mandating annual promotions. Last year fourteen officers were cut, with at least two seeking reinstatement in Congress. This year’s list includes five captains four commanders four lieutenant-commanders and lieutenants.
New York reports on the Pittsburgh Pirates hot start as pitchers improve sharply and the infield stars Wagner Konetely Viox and Mowrey shine. George Gibson returns to form with strong hits as the club rides early season momentum toward pennant buzz.
Mrs. Lillian Rosenberg widow of Lef ty Louie testified for the state at Charles Becker's trial. She said Jack Rose urged the murder and four gunmen divided the money. Her statements undermine a prior confession by Dago Frank Cirofici that Becker was not named in the crime.
Ogden Utah May 16 Royal Eeeles heir and legal representative says part of inheritance tax on the David Keeles estate will be paid to Utah under protest if tax on stock held in foreign corporations constitutes double taxation. Further legal steps will decide legality. The affected estate is about 750000 with a 5 percent tax cited.
Nearly 7000 New York police officers lined Broadway and Fifth Avenue as Mayor Mitchell awarded medals for conspicuous bravery at the annual parade.
Leona Wright aged 83 who served as a Civil War nurse died at her home in Terre Haute Indiana. She was president of the National Association of Family Nurses and its honorary president at the time of her death.
