At Juarez on May 13 General Orozco led a mutinous push in Madero’s army demanding rations and funds for hungry troops. Provisional President Francisco Madero Jr faced arrest threats as cabinet resignations were demanded, then pledged immediate relief and the dispersed insurgents.
General Navarro, once a federal leader, narrowly escaped threats from insurrectos and rode to the river with Provisional President Madero. They crossed on horseback into the American side near Washington Park, followed by a mounted ranchman escort. His exact refuge in El Paso remains unknown.
Bisbee on May 13 reports hotels filled with refugees from Cananea. The travelers encountered large bodies of rebels on the way but were not molested.
Cananea May 13 Jose Carmelo and Thomas Lopez Linares representing the federal government confer with rebel leader Juan Cabral over surrender terms. It is believed only minor details remain and Cabral will occupy the town tonight without resistance.
New York May 13. The National Association of Manufacturers schedules a three day session at the Waldorf focusing on accident prevention and industrial relief. Other topics include banking and currency immigration industrial education patent reform and the creation of an independent tariff commission of experts.
Secretary of War Jacob McGavick Dickinson of Tennessee, a Democratic member of President Taft's cabinet, has resigned. Henry L. Stimson of New York, recently defeated Republican candidate for governor, has been given the portfolio. Announcement came from the White House last night. Dickinson sought private life and family time after turning thirty, influencing his departure.
Thirty Pocatello Elks traveled by special coach to attend the funeral of Sam DeKay, a Grove City Elks member killed by an Austrian in Midvale, Utah. The service, one of Grove City’s grandest, included violin by Jack Dunn and a vocal by Douglas Smith, with an Odd Fellows grave dedication and an Elks procession from nearby towns.
Sheriff William Cooper raided a Downey beer hall owned by J C Burnett to stop destruction of whiskey at gunpoint. Burnett faced arraignment in Pocatello with $1000 bond, waiving exam, jailed for district court. Friends of Burnett plan a test case, challenging the missing warrant and authority display.
Real estate speculators await the auction next Monday of the Pinkey estate holdings in New York city. The sale covers about 950 city lots across numerous blocks corners and fronts with improved properties. Missary G Pinkey, owner until her death at 98, was reputed America's wealthiest spinster.
The Fabre line steamship Madonna departed Providence today for Mediterranean ports becoming the port's first regular transatlantic service. A municipal celebration marked the occasion as a milestone in Providence harbor development.
The third annual Mother’s Day program at the Presbyterian church features white carnations for all attending mothers. Rev. Mullen conducts the morning service with special music and readings honoring mothers, arranged by Miss Jean Campbell and the Marguerite circle. In the evening, Augusta Taintor delivers an address on Literature in the Home with a chorus from the Academy and songs by local performers. The event follows the Norfolk May Day observance first held in 1908.
Guild Hall Vermont May 13. Florence M Dodge of Luneburg found guilty of manslaughter in the fatal shooting of William Heath of Dalton New Hampshire at her home on September 17. Trial spanned two weeks with only Dodge and Heath present. No motive was established by the state.
Washington May 13 The senate finance committee delayed the Canadian reciprocity bill hearings as farmers representatives prolong arguments. Chairman Penrose planned to extend the session to hear them for a few more days, ending any rush this week.
Butte Montana May 13 union labor men of Butte and vicinity have completed arrangements for a monster mass meeting tomorrow to protest the arrest of Ortie McManigal and the McNamara brothers. They are held in Los Angeles on charges connected with the Times building destruction.
Exalted Ruler Molinelli declares the Pocatello Elks will wipe out the Traveling Men in baseball. He ridicules Captain Frank Conroy and recalls a legendary 较 old clash where scores were not publishable. Elks plan to form a local team to meet Traveling men and other Elks teams across the state.
President Taft departed for New York and Newark to speak at St. John’s Lodge of Masons banquet in Newark and at a reform conference on criminal laws in New York. He will address the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen convention in Harrisburg tomorrow.
An expert from the Bureau of Public Roads in the Department of Agriculture will attend the Inter-Mountain Good Roads Convention in Pocatello. The gathering is billed as the most important event in the history of the western good roads movement.

Eugene W. McCarty of Kalispell Montana arrives after being notified of the death of Timothy McCarty the prospector who killed himself in Pocatello by drinking carbolic acid. The body will be shipped to Kalispell for interment tonight with escort by local Eagles members.
Republican leaders in the senate have abandoned for the present the plan to elect a successor to Senator Frye as president pro tem. After seven ballots on Thursday they concluded it is impossible to elect Senator Galinger, the majority caucus candidate, at this time.
Chicago May 13 July wheat finished at 80 1/2 cents with prices drifting as traders digested demand and supply signals.
Hayward May 13 A jury found John F. Dietz guilty of first degree murder for slaying Deputy Oscar Harp during the Cameron Dam battle on October 8. He is sentenced to life at hard labor in the state penitentiary at Waupun. Jury also found Mrs Dietz and Leslie Dietz not guilty.
Washington federal officials confirm a representative from the office of public roads will address the Intermountain Good Roads association convention in Pocatello Idaho from June 22 to 24. A decision on the specific representative is pending and will be communicated directly to William Wallin.
