S A Bentley, an American refugee, testified that he and C W Richards were tortured in Juarez jail after a streetcar attack. Bentley says he was hit with a pistol and hung by a rope multiple times to force a confession of spying for federals, and one Mexican detainee was shot dead.
Washington reports that rebel forces led by General Orozco defeated the Mexican federal army in a large battle at Torreon. No further details are provided.
Macon Georgia hosts the twenty second annual United Confederate Veterans gathering with 50 000 visitors expected next week. Decorations begin as flags bunting and Confederate colors mix with national colors for a grand parade and festivities. Joseph B. Halm deputy supervisor of the Coeur d Alene national forest will wed Grace Falk at her parents home in Cannon Falls. The couple began their romance at Washington State College Pullman four years ago. Halm earned fame in 1910 for guiding 8 men to safety during a vast northern Idaho fire that killed and wrecked timber.
