Ex president Theodore Roosevelt to publish a signed Outlook article titled Murder is Murder. He condemns linking unionism to the Los Angeles Times dynamiting and urges fair trials for the accused, arguing guilt must be proven regardless of affiliation. He criticizes labor leaders who defend the suspects without facts.
Los Angeles county grand jury is to be convened late today with expected new indictments against John J. McNamara and James B. McNamara for murder in the Times explosion. Ortie McManigal may be included to overcome technical objections and enable arraignment tomorrow.
Columbus shows Franklin county grand jury resumes after indictments of five Ohio legislators for bribe soliciting and an officer for abetting bribe soliciting.
Final arguments were heard on a motion to quash the indictments against George D. Cox on a perjury charge. Judge Dickson of the common pleas court took the case under advisement.
Washington May 4 after a two years fight the senate adopted the Bailey resolution fixing 2 p m as the hour for convening instead of noon The new rule will be in effect until otherwise ordered.

Governors and leaders from Washington Oregon Idaho Utah Wyoming North Dakota South Dakota Minnesota attend, with talks on farming conservation minerals industry roads education and state advertising.
A rancher from Black Rock creek sued Bicknell and Gemmell for 520 dollars claiming damages from a sheep herd within two miles of his home. The case settled out of court for 50 dollars after partial testimony and a party visit by Pocatello businessmen.
Oakland California May 4. Several hundred high bred dogs from leading kennels of the Pacific coast were exhibited at Idora Park today for the Oakland Kennel Club show. The event runs three days and features a large and high class entry, the best yet for the local organization.
A telegram from Ambassador Wilson at Mexico City reports Mexican Foreign Minister De La Barra expects peace arrangements between the federals and insurrectos to be perfected today. A House member warned of possible invasion, citing an officer’s report, while El Paso notes the peace conference adjourned for a 4 pm resume with a preliminary basis agreed and credentials deemed satisfactory.
Idaho druggists gather for the Idaho Pharmaceutical Association fifth annual convention in Pocatello May 10 11 with opening by President A N Sprague and welcome from Mayor J M Bistline. The event features entertainment civic programs and a sports day at the east side baseball park including a knockout prize fight and a parade of visiting ladies.
Secretary E C Coker returns from a countywide tour visiting McCammon Bancroft and Soda Springs to inspect business activity. He urges a Bannock county commercial club to unify towns to sustain growth while noting McCammon and Soda Springs fear lapsing clubs. Coker promotes agricultural show prizes from Pocatello and plans to feature county entries in a regional exhibit train.
Senator Jefferson Davis of Arkansas gave notice in the senate that he would offer a resolution demanding Postmaster General Hitchcock reply within a week or face discharge. Davis pressed for a copy of the Post Office Department ruling and its reasons regarding alleged discrimination against two periodicals, one in St. Louis and one in Denver, asking if Hitchcock is bigger than the United States Senate.
Springfield May 4 The hearing of the senate bribery investigating committee was indefinitely postponed due to the absence of Attorney Healy and senator Frank W. Burton.
Chicago May 4 July wheat closed at 14 1/4 cents. market activity noted with small gains and mixed trading as traders awaited further supply cues.
Hot Springs fighters have reportedly shown in top shape over the past three months. High officials of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America lay out a system federation to unite all Harrriman line metal workers under one umbrella. A Salt Lake City meeting the week of June 5 will finalize details with 150 to 200 delegates expected from across the southwest. Arbitration and broader unity are the goals to avert strikes and strengthen worker bargaining power.
