Resident of Mackay Succumbs at 80
Mackay resident Maria Muffett aged 80 died at her home after a year of illness. A native of Roseworthy England she had lived in Boise and Rock Springs before moving to Mackay 35 years ago. Husband James H. Muffett died in 1932. Survived by daughter Mrs L A Hansen and son A J Muffett of Mackay. Funeral services set for Saturday.

The five cent per gallon motor fuels tax collected 319 666 for Idaho in March, up from 272 403 a year earlier. A 1 mill per gallon levy for the Twin Falls Jerome intercounty bridge added 6 248, versus 5 333 last March. Aeronautics gastone tax topped 1 000 for the first time at 1 043, more than doubling March 1940’s 461.

Idaho Man Faces Trial in Salmon Incident
Max Bauer, a laborer of Gibbonsville, Idaho, was held in Lemhi county jail awaiting district court trial next month on charges of attempted murder of George Pentland of Gibbonsville. Bauer, arrested by Sheriff Robert Isley after firing a rifle at Pentland through a glass panel door following a cabin camp fight, wounded Pentland in the arm. Bauer waived a preliminary hearing before Probate Judge Emerson Hill but did not post the $2,000 bond.

Head-on Collision Injures Three Near Blackfoot
Three people sustained slight injuries in a near head-on crash on a county road by the Porterville bridge northwest of Blackfoot. Victims include Mrs. R H Silver, bruises and shock.
