Paris dispatch notes the war Office confirms ongoing contact with German troops along a front section. Retrenchment continues but progress slows due to destroyed communications hubs and bad weather.
Lieut Narth and Machinist Mate Hermann Senroder led an escape attempt by German interned crews at the Philadelphia navy yard. Eight others fled alongside, with fourteen men involved. four captured during the bid to leave a ship and others seized by marines and Philadelphia police.
In Indianapolis on March 20 more than one hundred and eleven people, including officials and party leaders, are to be arraigned by Judge Albert B. Anderson on charges of conspiracy to commit felonies and violations of 1914 and 1916 election laws. The accused include primary registration and election officials from Indianapolis, Evansville, Gary, and Fort Wayne area cities.
