Governor C. ue Ross vetoed seven late bills and signed several others, finalizing action on remaining measures from the regular and special sessions. The income tax and a half mill per kilowatt power tax become law, effective July 1, with tax payments required from all liable individuals.
John Calloway Walton, impeached ex governor and 1923 ouster defendant, won a nonpartisan primary nomination for Oklahoma City mayor. He trails C. J. Blinn by 172 votes and aims to enter the April 7 final, seeking to resume public service after recent indictments. Walton’s bid follows a storied career from 1916 as commissioner of public works to a vehement pursuit of higher office.
