An international business machine company official denied a report that the firm bought a filing device from Charles Davidson of Fort Bridger Wyoming for five million dollars. The official would not identify himself. Davidson left Salt Lake City by train for the East to sail to Denmark for a Latter Day Saints mission.
Alvin Lee Williams paused on the witness stand to defend his killing of W. D. Broadhurst saying he acted on Mrs. Broadhurst’s suggestion. The trial jury heard two hours of cross examination as Williams admitted no strong enmity and cited love for the 40 year old defendant in a first degree murder case. He answered yes when asked if he loved Mr. Broadhurst.
Burglars stole the church speaker from First Presbyterian in Boise during a nocturnal visit. The Rev. Marcus E. Lindsay will address the congregation without a public address system until it’s replaced.

Idaho state board of education plans a 10 a m meeting next Monday in Pocatello to discuss converting the new Idaho State College into a four year institution with bachelor degrees in science arts and literature. Alton B Jones state superintendent said the board will also consider emergency budgets for state educational institutions. Executives at the college had waited for board leadership before commenting on future plans.
Andy Ancha Criswell, 25, held without bail, was arraigned in justice of the peace court on a murder charge. Police say the practically nude body of 41 year old Jimmie Johnson was found near a locomotive on a side track south of the Pocatello mill after Criswell allegedly struck her following a quarrel. Criswell reportedly signed a statement admitting being with the woman and striking her. He came to Pocatello 18 months ago from Arkansas and has been living with his wife at 306 North Third.

Idaho's 29th legislature moves to raise hunting and fishing license fees across multiple categories. The Fish and Game Department relies on license sales for all funding and expects about $200,000 extra annually to balance the two year budget. The bill sets a $1,958,000 department expense for the coming biennium, plus $80,000 for predator control and $40,000 for wildlife restoration, totaling $2,978,000. Gov. Robins has yet to sign.
Governor Robins has not yet acted on two bills: a slot machine measure and liquor by the drink, which could ban slot games or liquor clubs if vetoed. A navigator aboard Trans World Airlines Star of Hollywood was blown from a cockpit bubble and fell four miles into the Atlantic about 500 miles from Gander Newfoundland. George Hart of Sag Harbor New York is listed as missing with the pilot O F Hamilton of Richmond Virginia. The plane returned safely to Gander at 10 34 p m after the 7 28 p m event. Coast guard alerted ships to search the area.
