Tornado Hits De Ridder Demolishing Nine Buildings
A tornado struck De Ridder Louisiana shortly before noon demolishing nine buildings and causing wide damage in the east end. Eight homes were destroyed in a mainly Negro section with a wrecked filling station and uprooted trees and blown billboards. No injuries reported.

Man Amputates Finger in Private in Whiteville
Oliver D. Clewis, a carpenter, rigged a guillotine shaped device for a public amputation last summer but authorities blocked it. He claims to have completed the act privately recently, displaying a bandaged hand and a finger in alcohol. He says the finger bothered him after an opponent bit it in a fight.

The main issue is the 40 hour work week for the railroad industry with the threat of a strike by one million workers including shopmen clerks and telegraphers. The board previously proposed a 40 hour week and a seven cent hourly wage rise retroactive to October. Both sides still differ over the plan and new talks with the board began as a fresh round of conferences was set.

Man Kills Daughter in Oklahoma Night Slaying
Melburn Joseph Mott, 33, killed his seven-year-old daughter Mary Francis as she slept in Land Springs Oklahoma. He was captured eight miles west of the town on U S Highway 64 after an overnight search. Mott admitted the crime and said he spared his son Charles after the boy cried for his father. Death of John Dils 79 Longtime Idaho Resident
John Dils, 79, of 116 Park Avenue, died Tuesday evening in a local hospital after a lingering illness. Born July 18, 1869 in Ontario, Canada, he moved to Buffalo, New York, then settled in Pocatello in 1915. He served as a Democratic precinct committeeman in Alameda and deputy sheriff of Bannock County, and was a 50 year member of ICOP lodge No. 517. Survived by his widow Emma Floyd Dils, a daughter in Florida, two stepdaughters in California, two granddaughters, and two sisters in Buffalo. Burial arrangements to be announced by Arthur W. Hall mortuary.
