A thief tried to chop through the west door of the Poca tello Cash Grocery in the Odd Fellow block on Wednesday morning. Clerk Harry Jones, sleeping in the store, woke and looked outside but could not identify the intruder before he fled, leaving an ax mark and a fleeing silhouette.
