Senator Capper says Hoover’s first year is one of fact finding and groundwork. He lauds Hoover’s handling of the stock market crash, cites six nationwide aims including farm relief, law enforcement, inland waterways, and world peace promotion.
A wedding party of 30 people including the bride and groom drowned in Lake Narogzna in the Wilmo district after their sleighs broke through the ice. The accident occurred yesterday near Warsaw during the March thaw, claimed the entire group.

Federal grand jury indicts Arthur N. Sanger Joseph Shalleck and Edward Reynolds plus other defendants in Utah lead corporation mail fraud case. They allegedly bribed juror No 10 John Cros who accepted $300 to hang the jury and conspired to bribe courtroom bailiffs and others.
Paris March 3 Andre Tardieu and his second cabinet officially constituted yesterday began work on the ministerial declaration to win a vote of confidence in the chamber set for Wednesday. A favorable vote will allow a French naval delegation to London and resume talks, with Briand Dumesnil Pietri De Fleuriau and Gustave De Kergueve named for the delegation.
D. H. Lawrence, influential British novelist, died in Nice on March 3 after a long illness. His work, marked by exploration of sex, faced prosecution after The Rainbow in 1915 and again in later years. He also produced paintings, poems, plays, and essays.

Police killed two would be thieves during a dawn attempt to rob the Harper theater safe on Harper avenue. The robbers, Phil lip J. Twomey and Leo Garbada, were traced to the attic after Patrolman Bondy spotted them and Sergeant Farley joined the pursuit. A pistol beam lit the scene guiding the fatal exchange.
Washington March 3 The government seeks a Supreme Court review to decide if a liquor purchaser who orders delivery, knowing it leads to illegal transport, can be guilty of conspiring with a bootlegger. The case involves Alfred E Norris of New York and Joel D Kerper of Philadelphia with hearing set for April 14.
J. T Parker reported discovery of a red tri motor monoplane wreck 20 miles northeast of Lake Arrowhead in Deep Box canyon. The missing crew were James E. Doles A. W. Bieber and John W. Slater. A rainstorm and canyon inaccessibility hinder searchers as Sheriff Walter Shay heads out to the scene.
