Stern Gang claims triple sudden accident in Palestine

The Stern gang said it set a railway attack that killed 28 British troops and injured 33 as revenge for a prior assault on Ben Yehuda street. A fourth mine failed, with potential toll of 50 plus. California quake rattles Southern California towns

Five Die in Utah Auto Crash Near Delle

An accident 21 miles west of Grantsville Utah killed five people and injured a sixth, all Salt Lake City residents. The convertible rolled multiple times after failing to negotiate a curve on U S highway 40 50 near Delle. Names include Charles Calvin Johnson 23 Wayne Buchert 32 Ramona Hayes Hackwell 18 Hope Morrison 17 Harvey R Boisjolie 23. Julia C Galyan 17 was in critical condition. Police cite excessive speed as the cause.

Civilization tune sparks bar shooting in Manhattan

In a Manhattan bar early today a gunman shot three people after the juke box played Civilization repeatedly. Victims include red haired Josephine Ostoloco 20 seaman 30 and bartender Nemesio Calasen 47. Torres 30 fled after wounding the trio then was wounded in a subway gun battle with police.

Leap Year Triplets Born At St Anthony’s Hospital

Three Leap Year children were born Sunday at St Anthony’s hospital two girls and one boy. The girls are to Richard and Elizabeth Hocking of 650 West Greeley and to Wendell and Betty Anderson of 704 North Hayes. The boy is to Reo and LaRae Davis of 137 Wayne.

Woman expects 22nd child at 38 in Atlanta

Mrs Maud Ethel Pope, age 38, says she is delighted to expect her 22nd child. The bride at 11 has 17 sons and 4 daughters named in a worn Bible. nine children survive. Four sons died of paralysis and one or two died of whooping cough. She met her husband at the family well when he was 17. Her first child arrived when she was 12.

Soldier Nabs Smugglers in Kobe Penicillin Ring

In Kobe Japan an Army GI Pfc Bill Stewart, guarding the SS Taksang, spotted unloading from a Formosa bound ship. He alerted Lt Richard Hughes yielding 2000 vials penicillin 350 pounds saccharin and metals. Two Chinese crewmen were arrested and contraband impounded.

Benjamin Williams Henderson 77 of Arimo dies at home of son Eral Henderson in Salt Lake City. Born November 24 1870 in Logan he was a former Bannock County Democratic state senator and longtime LDS church leader. Survived by three sons a daughter nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements to be announced by Hall mortuary.
