The Associated Press reports evacuation of 2,000 workers since the May 25 strike. Non-strikers moved in in groups of 800 while dynamite damaged a water main and telephone lines. Pickets were arrested and guardsmen with two airplanes kept order. Louis Govel suffered a possible brain concussion. Some fronts of the steel strike remained comparatively quiet.
The senate civil liberties committee presented an unpublished coroner’s report claiming seven of ten Memorial day dead in the Chicago police clash were shot in the back. Police Commissioner Allman testified the department bore full responsibility and denied private detectives were involved.
Inglewood Calif June 30 police identify a suspect known as Eddie the Sailor in the kidnap slayings of three Inglewood girls. Details cite a near miss as five girls were lured by the man before the victims were killed and bodies found in a ravine near Bald Burdette.
The broken body of 12 year old Junior Johnson of East Midvale was found at the base of a cliff in Little Cottonwood canyon near Salt Lake City. He vanished during a picnic with a companion and tumbled to a 100 foot drop while hiking. Deputy sheriffs searched the area for hours before recovery.
United States Ryder Cup team defeats Great Britain 8 to 4 in Southport England to retain the trophy. Key wins include Ralph Guldahl over Alf Padgham 8 and 7 and Gene Sarazen’s 1 up over Percy Alliss. Dudley and Picard also win as Shute halts a late British rally.

In Van Buren Arkansas a letter mailed years ago was found after 12 years and 12 days behind a letter box. The recipient Greenlee Jones paid an extra cent postage due to rate changes since 1925. The loan request from a friend in Oklahoma was the letter’s content. Utah weather forecast calls for fair skies.
Washington June 30 a booming cannon signaled the start of a major Boy Scout gathering with upwards of 25090 scouts in 350 acres. In Blackfoot on June 30 two young boys drowned in irrigation canals. Darell Alfred Mecham, 3, of Rose community, went missing at 2:30 pm and was found after a long search. Harold Eldon Pea, 24, of Pingree, was found about 6 pm in an outlet of the American Falls canal near his home.
King Carol of Romania lauded the Polish army in Warsaw during a state visit, calling it a new guarantee of the peace of Europe. The remarks came as relations between Romania and Poland were bolstered by the trip.
Congressional tax inquiry hears testimony that Myron Taylor of United States Steel and Alfred P Sloan Jr of General Motors reduced taxes by creating subsidiaries and using personal holdings. Witnesses cite other notable figures and arrangements including yacht incorporations and famous personalities.
James O. Bigham about 40 of 326 South Twelfth suffered a heart attack while riding a bicycle on East Bonnville at Ninth avenue toward his home and died at General hospital. Mrs. Della Chenoweth alerted police at 1 40 p m and Dr. R P Howard pronounced death about 2 p m He had heart trouble for years and was a WPA employee. Survivors include mother Ruth Morgan a half sister Ol len Morgan a brother Charles A Bigham and two sisters Nellie Mae Bigham of Rice and Mamie Pearl Bigham of Layton Utah.
State health commissioner Dr Jones urges six commandments to endure hot weather. Avoid overwork and stress, eat light but filling foods with fruit and vegetables, bathe often and drink water, exercise moderately, wear light clothing, and get proper rest. June 30.
Her man Stein's daughter Helma Stein, 16, died Tuesday after a brief illness in Salt Lake City. She was born November 14, 1920 in Pocatello Idaho. The Idaho weather section notes cloudy skies tonight with cooler southeast aspects and Thursday rain.

Cleveland routed St Louis 10 to 3 as Bonetti Huff man Harder and Pylak powered the wins.
In New York the game featured a battery trio with LaMaster Mulcahy Jorgens and Atwood along with Castleman Mancuso. Philadelphia trailed as the nine inning counts showed 010000100 and 240 for the visitors.
In Boston, Brooklyn were blanked 4 0 with batteries Mungo Phelps Gabler Lopez while Boston scored 15 0. In the second game Brooklyn were shut out 0 5 as Boston managed 7 7 0 with Fitzsimmons Henshaw Jeffcoat Phelps Spencer Bush and Lopez. At St Louis Chicago lost 2 0 to St Louis 1 0 2 0 with Parmelee Fortnet Warneke Ogrodowski on the mound. Pittsburgh vs Cincinnati listed as a night game.
British cabinet debates abandoning the hands off Spain non intervention scheme amid German and Italian opposition. Foreign Secretary Eden said Portuguese observers were withdrawn along with suspension of British observers, raising fears of arms and aboard import risks into insurgent Spain. Portugal implied it may resume duties if non intervention can be reestablished.

Twenty nine Idaho reserve officers have been ordered to duty with the Citizens' Military Training Corps at Fort Douglas Utah. Some will be in camp from July 8 to 21 while others report from July 18 to 31.
An AP dispatch says Japanese Manchukuoan land forces sunk a Soviet gunboat, crippled another, and repelled a third near Blagoveshchensk on the Amur. Tokyo claimed Soviet boats fired on Manchoukuan positions on South Kopehaten island as tensions flare along the Far East frontier.
Amelia Earhart plans a hazardous world encircling flight, taking off from Lae New Guinea at 1 30 p m local Thursday aboard the US Coast Guard cutter Itasca. The route covers 2570 miles to Howland Island with radio contact with Itasca in final leg and weather forecast for Howland.
Ethel du Pont and Franklin D Roosevelt Jr were married before 300 guests in Little Christchurch Wilmington Del The 21 year old bride walked down the aisle with her father as Rev Endicott Peabody and Rev Frederick Ashton led the Episcopal ceremony with the president and Roosevelts present. The service lasted about 20 minutes ending with vows and a kneeling blessing.
