Camas Idaho a Ghost Town With Historic Western Rise and Fall

An East Idaho ghost town Camas sits six miles north of Hamer and ten miles south of Dubois. Once a thriving division point for the Utah and Northern railroad with mining support, irrigation revived it briefly in 1910 but water issues and highway realignments led to depopulation. The town now houses few railroad workers and cattle, with remnants of a once bustling ore frontier and saloons. A final note: a Chicago woman lists her dog in the directory as a local curiosity.
