A confidential air ministry source says Britain’s monthly warplane production leads Germany and planes are stored in underground warehouses. Britain spends about 10 million dollars weekly on production while Germany’s rate is estimated at 8,000 to 12,000 yearly.
State police shot three convicts who seized Mrs. Joiner, a welfare worker touring the Indiana state prison. Warden Alfred Dowd engaged them in conversation as officers surprised the barricaded prison physician’s office and killed the men. Dowd and Weeks were wounded during the exchange.
Seven year old Jose Rey Ruiz tugged a pony by a rope around its neck to hurry to a water trough. The rope slipped around his wrist as the pony bolted, dragging him three blocks. He died later at a hospital.
100 Days in jail awarded by Justice William Hinckley to George Finley of Malad for operating a motor vehicle under the influence. Police signed complaint by R C Thomas. Finley ran a stop sign at Second and Center and drove recklessly on South Second and East Center. Officers report he became abusive in custody. Dr H H Hughart pronounced intoxication. Finley was driving a truck at the time.
A canvass of Pocatello business houses found most contacted opposed Monday July 3 closing for a three day holiday. Stores will remain open as usual based on the latest indications. Weather outlook mentions southeast conditions.
The London Evening Standard reports the Duke and Duchess of Windsor have decided to return to England in October and take up residence here. They would not seek royal titles for the duchess and may visit the United States next year.

Judgment for $10,227.50 against Henry J. Armstrong, welterweight boxing champion, was returned in circuit court here. The damage suit grew from a collision between Armstrongs car and that of Sarah Reynolds, 25, a Covington physical education instructor.
Directors of Shell Union Oil Corporation declare a dividend of 25 cents a share on common stock payable July 20 to holders of record July 11. Last year dividends were 35 cents in July and December.
Brigham City reports the drowning of two year old John LaMar Everton, son of Mrs and Mrs John Wilbur Everton, who died today after immersion in an irrigation ditch.
Clarence M. Rainey city water superintendent urged Pocatellans to stop sprinkling until two city pumps are repaired. Parts from Berkeley California and Memphis Tennessee failed to arrive this morning, delaying repairs. He warns the gravity system cannot meet needs in emergencies and promises night work if parts arrive by air express.

R. E. Brossard faces forgery accusations in Justice William Hinckley’s court. The complaint, signed by store manager R. C. Meislahn, alleges Brossard signed a $15 check in the name of Herbert Magleby.
Boise June 27 In two opinions Attorney General J W Taylor ruled the weed commission must operate as a fiscal advisory body under the 1939 law. He noted limited biennial funds and that county commissioners control actual eradication work. Taylor advised potatoes may ship as before with federal labeling rules still required.
Kiwanis members held a fellowship luncheon today and honored Guy Wicks whose birthday is celebrated. L H Anderson presented a gift to Mr Wicks. The guest of honor, university athletic director and Pioneer league umpire, received constructive criticism. Tom West announced Kiwanis 4 H club cup award to Excello club of Cleveland as county’s outstanding club. Dr. O F Call welcomed as new member. W P Havener and Ben Tandy share vacation trip notes. Guests included Henry J Koerner of Portland and Robert Blume of Chicago.
A complaint filed in Justice Hinckley court charges Pat Murphy with assault with intent to commit rape of a six year old girl. Roy L. Kent of McCammon signed the complaint. Murphy has not yet been taken into custody.
William P. Buckner Jr testified in federal court that Paul V. McNutt refused help for defaulted Philippine railway bonds due to his political situation. Buckner, on trial for mail fraud and conspiracy, described a Manila meeting in 1937 and defended hosting government-connected parties as part of his lobbying.
Mrs. C A Bottolfsen Idaho’s first lady is ready to leave Boise hospital after a wreck near Craters of the Moon that left her with cuts bruises and a rib injury. Her sister Mrs Virginia Horn suffered a dislocated neck and was expected to recover. Marian Horn also treated for a broken collar bone and minor injuries.
Police respond to threat of explosion at Laws Cabin camp. Everett McFarlan, intoxicated, blames a “bunch of bollogy” for dynamite claim. fined $15. George Hansen fined $100 for intoxication. Hansen resisted officers. Steve Hatch fined $100 for vagancy. Louis Hootchew moved to Fort Hall after intoxication charge. several individuals forfeited dollar bonds on minor traffic charges.
Boise obituary notes Nettie V. Simpson, a 68 year old veteran teacher who served the public schools for 33 years until her retirement in 1934, died yesterday in Boise.
The Treasury reduced the foreign silver price from 43 to 40 cents per ounce amid political moves to curb silver purchases. The Senate backed ending foreign silver buys after July 1 and curbing the administration’s monetary powers, while coalitions of Republicans and silver-state senators pushed for higher domestic silver prices to favor job creation and mining activity across the West.
In a Los Angeles court the $150000 heart balm suit against Alma includes testimony by Mrs Helen Warne describing Myrl Alderman as an amorous pianist with multiple named former lovers. Witnesses recount Alderman’s alleged affairs with Dorothy Page Edna Torrance Annabelle and others including Ruth Etting. The trial features figures from the entertainment world and personal relations tied to Ruth Etting.

In district court Judge I E Mc Dougall hears C A Stewart versus R M Pugmire chief of police Mayor R M Terrell and Sheriff M J Rossiter over confiscation of marble machine or pin games distributed to local businesses The plaintiff claims these devices are amusement not gambling and notes a $100 police court fine for operating gambling devices Stewart testified he warned operators not to accept payments as games of amusement only and that winnings were not self paying.
State Representative C. W. Dill Jr. of Lincoln resigns amid questions over gravel pit operations and potential conflicts of interest with state business. Ben Darrah of Shoshone recommended to fill the vacancy, marking the first personnel change of the 1989 session.

The Pocatello ritualistic team defeated Wallace to win the state championship as Edwin J. Alexander of Aberdeen Washington delivered the keynote. In a patriotic speaking contest Marjorie Cole Lewiston won with Margaret McFadden St Maries and Grace Shockley Burley placing second and third.
Acting Public Works Commissioner H. R. Flint announced bids would be opened July 14 for three highway jobs. Tasks include oiling 12.5 miles around Copeland Junction Boundary County, oiling 17 miles between Canyon Creek and Tetonia in Teton and Madison counties, and building an overhead structure over the railroad and river north of Council in Adams County.
Members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce will convene at 8 p m tonight in the Bannock hotel for a business meeting led by president Max Pasley. The session will set committee appointments for projects including honorary memberships, an outdoor boxing match promotion, and signs to guide visitors to the city.
