Britain and France to patrol eastern Spain coast alone

Britain and France will use their own warships to fill the Spain patrol gap left by Italo German withdrawal. In a bitter Commons debate Prime Minister Chamberlain and Foreign Secretary Eden clashed with Liberals led by Lloyd George who branded non intervention a farce. They said Soviet arms aid to the Madrid government was large as Germany and Italy withdrew ships.

Flying boat crosses U S in nonstop transcontinental flight

Fire Destroys Part of Bonanza Mining Camp

Flames swept through the abandoned historic camp in Bonanza Colorado destroying a store building and leaving about a third of the town in charred ruin. Firefighters from nearby Saguache and forest service crews battled the blaze for hours and prevented spread to the post office. A patrol remained over the smouldering ruins as revival mining operations continued nearby.
