More Divers Are Prowling Off Atlantic and South Carolina

Kyulf Port reports a coast wise passenger steamship encountered a German submarine last Saturday off South Carolina. Atlantic Port notes an American steamer from Central America sighting a submarine 180 miles off Sandy Hook yesterday afternoon, the first such U boat report this far north.

French ace Lt Jean Chaput awarded Aero Club gold medal

Paris reports the Aero club of America awards its gold medal to Lt Jean Chaput a leading French ace who shot down sixteen planes including a sausage balloon and was killed in action. The committee announced thirty two medals in total with fourteen to Americans twelve to Frenchmen two to Italians one Belgian two Britishers and one Canadian.

Airplane Plant Wage Strike At Curtiss Factory

Buffalo June 20 A strike in Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Corp main plant began at 10 AM with 200 machinists laying down tools. They demand an eight hour day and a pay scale equal to navy yards, according to the union leader.
