Representative Lemke of Minnesota announces formation of the Union party and his bid for the presidency with Thomas C. O'Brien of Boston as vice president. He vows the new party will end economic distress and slavery of a different kind, criticizing the two major parties and filing plans nationwide.
District of Columbia commissioners filed a petition to intern Representative Marion A. Zioncheck in St. Elizabeths hospital, alleging insanity after two weeks of mental observation at Gallinger hospital. Justice Luhring scheduled a jury hearing for June 26 as Zioncheck protested from his ward window.
A. E. Duke county agricultural agent credits CCC cricket control detachment with preventing crop damage in Buckskin basin district. He praises the young CCC workers for their interest and effective results in pest eradication.
Members of the board of county commissioners met at the courthouse to consider approving or rejecting bids on property sold at a public sale held June 11. Commissioners W. P. Whitaker Roy T. Hale and Nels Hogan attended the session.
Max Baer arrived in Pocatello for an 8:30 p m bout with Harold Murphy at the armory. He said he only loaned his title to James J Braddock for a year and a half to help him earn money. Baer discussed potential big fights with Louis or Braddock and noted the New York Louis Schmeling bout as a poor draw.
Bannock county Republican groups issue a telegram urging Senator William E. Borah to file nominating papers for re election. They praise his work for Idaho and the nation and insist his monetary views do not affect his candidacy, urging acceptance of the nomination.
Idaho Elks gather in Pocatello for a two day state reunion starting Saturday with Ed D. Baird of Boise leading the delegation estimated at 1,000. The schedule includes golf, bowling, billiards, bridge, chess, ritualistic finals, an address of welcome by R. M. Terrell and a grand ball at the Elks temple with host Boise Lodge No. 310 and Idaho Falls Lodge No. 1087 assisting.
Philadelphia extends a flag drenched welcome to Democratic advance guards as the party weighs its platform for the upcoming national convention. Wallace aides push a farm plank with AAA policies crop control and trade talks. Delegates arrive ahead of the convention with bloc renomination talks for Roosevelt.
Boise June 19 Republican leaders ponder William Borah's letter to party chiefs offering to seek a sixth term with reservations. Frank Burroughs urged a conference while noting party unity and resentment over not consulting the state committee. Borah, in London, reserved freedom to discuss national issues and opposed returning to the gold standard. Ralph Whitten called Borah's letter a partial repudiation of the national platform.
Promoters in New York City prepared for the Louis Schmeling heavyweight bout at 7 o clock local time. The Tribune Journal will provide blow by blow returns to Pocatello and southeastern Idaho readers. Weather warned of rain but forecast to stay away tonight. Max Baer and brother Buddy may appear briefly at the office, while a local armory arena bout with Millionaire Murphy starts at 8 30.
Harry Bryan of Black, Inc. is summoned to Kansas today due to his father’s death and will be away for a week or ten days.

Births must be reported to the celebration headquarters in the chamber of commerce office by 11:59 p.m. July 4, with the announcing party including the parents and physician.
Arthur Gooch 21, convicted kidnapper of two Texas officers, was hanged at McAlester state prison marking the first execution under the Lindbergh law. The crowd watched as Gooch walked to the gallows and died fifteen minutes after the trap fell, after a final message to his six year old son. Weather expected to be cooler tonight in the south region.
Albert Walter confessed to killing Blanche Cousins, 91, of Idaho Falls. In Superior Court in San Francisco the defense urged guilty plea but insanity was entered for examination before trial set for June 25, Judge Jacks ordered sanity evaluation amid protests from Public Defender Kenny and Assistant District Attorney McMahon.
Workmen begun remodeling the rooms in the 300 block of East Center Street formerly housing the Lousvre cafe and Wirtz Candy Kitchen. Sewell's United States will occupy the remodeled store. It will feature modern equipment and up to the minute furnishings.
In Marion Maine on June 19 a picnic on Lake Gardner ended in tragedy as an outboard boat capsized. Thirteen Lubec children drowned and two others were saved in the incident.
