Floor Fight Pends on WPA Future

The House Appropriations Subcommittee voted to modify key WPA provisions. Changes include raising building project limits to 50 000 for federal and 40 000 for non federal projects, restoring relief fund allocation to regular federal agencies, allowing seven dollars per month for non labor costs, and requiring at least 25 percent of labor from relief rolls. The move aims to head off a floor battle as leadership faces internal opposition and a potential three member board for the WPA administrator.
