Washington June 13 The senate approved by 64 to 24 a resolution to amend the constitution for direct popular election of senators. The Bristow amendment with federal supervision was adopted 45 to 44 by a vice president’s decisive vote. The house has passed the resolution. Senator Reed protested the VP’s decisive vote.
