Five robbers in an automobile attacked the village of Mahomet before dawn. While guards watched, others blew the safe and escaped with 2500 dollars. Authorities described the crime as a bold bank robbery in Champaign county.

Reports from Durango describe three decisive constitutionalist victories between Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi last weekend. Colonel Fernando Reyes with 600 men defeated a large federal force at Salinas, then repelled a relief force from San Luis Potosi. Salinas fighting lasted 28 hours with 46 federal privates and four officers killed. fourteen officers captured were executed and 37 privates freed. Reyes also seized two machine guns and 1000 rounds of ammo. In Mazatlan a smallpox outbreak hinders the garrison at Cu l a can and a relief attempt for Mazatlan fails as General Mena’s cargo ship is driven from the harbor. Obregon’s artillery forces the steamer to sea.
Washington June 2 Rafael Zurbaran head of the Carranza agency says Huerta seeks mediation but the constitutionalists have nothing to mediate with and can only meet him at the point of the sword.
In Criceith Wales on June 2 suffragettes held an open air meeting addressed by David Lloyd George. As he spoke women attempted to panic the crowd and were ejected. They then marched the streets breaking windows and six were arrested by police.
Rye N Y June 2 The cup class yachts Vanitie and Resolute sailed in their initial contest for selection of the American boat to challenge Sir Thomas Lipton. The Defiance will not be ready to compete before Saturday. The vessels completed the first half of the triangular fifteen mile course with Vanitie gaining fourteen seconds on Resolute. By 3 20 both led by over a minute on their second circuit toward the first mark.
City plans show an additional $45000 needed above last year's appropriation of $103100 to cover new city hospital purchase $6250 park site purchase park and maintenance. No ordinance action, budget to be finalized Thursday night with discussions on bond issues for park street and hospital needs. Federal court in Trenton New Jersey dissolves the American Thread company and allied firms governing the thread industry.
