Noted British violator Horatio Bottomley freed from prison

Horatio Bottomley, longtime wartime figure and former MP, was released from Maidstone prison after serving about five years of a seven year term for fraud involving 6000 pounds from a Victory loan bond club he founded. The Westminster Gazette said he would resume journalism and edit a new weekly called The Ride.

Brother of Idaho Senator Fred W. Gooding Dies in Shoshone

Fred W. Gooding died at his home in Shoshone Idaho at age 69 after a seven month illness. Survived by widow Mrs. Sidney Smith daughter Edward three brothers including Senator Frank R. Gooding and two other brothers. Born May 8 1856 in England he moved to Michigan with his family before seeking fortune in the western states ascendant Idaho pioneer. Funeral plans not announced.

Death Toll Rises to Twenty Seven in Favorite Disaster

President cannot visit Spokane air races invitation dropped

An invitation for President Coolidge to attend Spokane air races was dropped from a plane at Rapid City. Major John T. Fancher, managing director of the national air races, released the note as the plane passed by the president’s office. He later presented the invitation in person.

Minister LaTour Shot at Guatemalan Legation in Washington

Guatemalan minister to the United States Senor Francisco Sanchez LaTour was found unconscious with a bullet wound in the legation study in Washington. He was alone when fired upon, with an old revolver nearby, and he is reported in a dying condition at a local hospital. Officials are mystified, his wife suggests possible accidental shooting, while recent personal disputes and a high profile court action are noted.

W F Bush chairman of the Missouri Pacific railway dies in Omaha at 67 after months of ill health. Attack on Telleght Camp Guards Near Dublin

Armed men assaulted the guard at Telleght military camp near Dublin this morning but fled when soldiers opened fire. No guards were injured in the exchange.
