Washington July 27 the provost marshal general bans answering questions from individuals or local exemption boards citing a flood of inquiries. New rules require all inquiries be directed through official channels.
Washington July 27 the senate finance committee debated how much of the 10 billion dollar war budget to raise by taxation and what items would be taxed as they prepare the bill for early next week. The discussion focused on revenue sources and tax scope for funding wartime efforts.
Central Labor Union members approved joining Idaho Falls festivities. A three man committee Brown Hawkins Anderson will seek funds to hire a band for the event and arrange a baseball game between Union men of Pocatello and Idaho Falls. Contributions may be sent to the committee members.
Ward Race 16 of South Main is jailed on charges of forging a 265 money order. He says he found a letter at the post office and caused the cashing of a money order to Ray Osbourne. Companion Bird 21, arrested at Hunting, is held as investigators decide next steps. federal authorities have not acted yet.
Jassy Romania July 27 Rumanians occupy ten villages in a new offensive. The war office reports German forces in disorder as Romanian troops advance in the region.

London report shows Indo-China Steam Navigations earned a net profit of 312,233 pounds in 1915 16 up from 16,020 pounds in 1914. Dividend rose from three pence to fifty percent reflecting wartime shipping gains.
County Clerk C. W. Pomeroy said he had not yet received the official list of numbers drawn at Washington for the army draft but expected it soon. Philadelphia July 27. George W. Ocha former publisher of the Philadelphia Public Ledger petitions to change his name to George W. Ochs Oakes arguing a German name will provoke hostility and burden future relations due to wartime actions. Mrs. Ochs is described as native born American.
