Hope grows in London that Geneva naval dispute will be settled. Marquis of Reading says Britain is pursuing agreement. South Africa’s high commissioner in London expects British delegates to Geneva to push for a smooth resolution.
The National Education Association urged Congress to fund reconstruction of Mississippi flood ruins. J W Crabtree led a campaign asking state representatives to back the aid and compile county data to present a full damage toll next session. The move aims to restore schooling and mobilize public support for flood rehabilitation.
Flood waters swept through Ouray and down the valley toward Ridgeway causing property damage over 950000. More than a mile of Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad tracks were washed out and highways became impassable. Women were stranded in trees but no injuries or drownings were reported. The flood was the worst since 1908.
Idaho nine counties report mixed changes in 1936 to 1937 valuations with increases for irrigated lands and declines for dry land farms. Shoshone and Power counties record major decreases linked to mine profits and reservoir land reductions, while Nez Perce shows a notable gain driven by irrigation value and new developments.

Kane Pennsylvania July 28. The Kushekua railroad will handle freight only on rainy days. The 20 mile forest route previously used steam locomotives with spark fires. After testing a gasoline car for passengers the line now restricts freight to rainy days due to fire risk from sparks.
Grand jury testimony outlines a $34,000,000 missing cash pool tied to the Julian Petroleum corporation stock over-issue and the collapse. Accountant F. F. Mail order motion pictures of the Dempsey Sharkey fight are sold for home projection. Out of state buyers receive films showing training and ring entrances with a victory close up, avoiding the fight action, while New York buyers receive the full bout.

Commissioner Doran says a bottom up reorganization will weed out undesirables by October 1 with districts trimming forces and shifting toward investigators Garment of civil service rules complicates selections while Lowman sworn in Monday opposes coercive methods and vows strict regulations for field agents.
James A Stillman and his north woods bride arrived in New York amid crowded photographers after a Grand Anse wedding reception scene was disrupted by a crockery barrage. The couple planned to stay hidden before sailing on the Olympic for a European honeymoon.
In St Joseph Michigan a 60 year old Swedish sailor publicly disowned his son and daughter in a dissolution suit against the House of David. Edward Johnson testified he would not visit his daughter Mrs Esther Hansel on her death bed because she is Benjamin Purnell's enemy. He predicted a good agricultural year with strong corn prospects and favorable trends in sugar beets wheat and fruits based on his observations and talks with farm leaders.
Benton Illinois July 8 AP Charles Birger gang leader seeks mercy from Circuit Judge Muller after his death sentence for the murder of Mayor Joe Adams of West City MI Birger calls himself innocent and accuses former lieutenant Art Newmen of wrongdoing while addressing the court in his final appeal.
W C Bridgeman first lord of the admiralty and British delegate joined Hugh Gibson American delegate in Geneva. They did not comment but announced a meeting of chief delegates from Great Britain Japan and the United States at 2:20 PM. Bridgeman reportedly shared a rough outline of British proposals to advance a successful outcome.
The St Louis Cardinals oppose Flint Rhem's bid to overturn a $2,000 fine for breaking training rules after a failed arbitration. Manager Bob O’Farrell and President Sam Breadon stated the penalty remains, stressing discipline and the impact on the team if a starting pitcher defies rules.
Los Angeles July 28 AP Aimee Semple McPherson was asked by Dr Gladyn Nichols leader of a reformist faction at Angelus temple to reopen her kidnapping case. Rapid City South Dakota July 28 A one to two per cent cut in the corporation tax appears to be the keynote of the forthcoming tax reduction program. Administration leaders who have conferred with President Coolidge support this move as among the first tax cuts to be considered for next season.
