A strong Mexican column was sent to Sierra Blanca about sixty miles south of the border where 200 bandits are said to be at work. American forces in the Big Bend region were ordered to stop the bandits from crossing the river.

Columbus reports Guy Johnson an American scout confessed link to Arkansas moonshine whiskey frauds. He was moved to New Mexico penitentiary and will be transferred to Fort Smith after required papers are signed.
London July 27 Laurence Ginnel nationalist member of parliament was removed from sittings after he asked objectionable questions about the Irish uprising leading to his removal from the house of commons.
In London on July 27 German submarines extended their relentless campaign against timber laden vessels in the North Sea sinking four Norwegian ships. A captain and twelve crewmen survived after being landed at Shields. the submarine commander reportedly said I suppose we must do it and I am very sorry but it is my duty. The vessel was saturated with paraffin and set on fire.
A late note cabled to Great Britain protests a British blacklist of American firms and objects to what is described as an invasion of neutral goods. The report notes an American firm stance against the blacklist and suggests strong opposition from Washington.
Emris John, 80, a Lava Hot Springs rancher, died after being dragged by a mowing machine when frightened horses bolted. He tangled in the reins and fell before the blade, suffering severe injuries. Survived by a wife and three children. services will be held tomorrow at Lava.
